Today in class, the professor taught us how

sodium ions activate potassium channels,
and we talked about how acetylcholine binds

with receptors to stimulate electrical signals,

and how I so desperately wanted your lips

against mine.
We learned about the bones of the skull— the

maxilla, mandible, and all the rest,
and how they connect with joints and
cartilage to form the most perfect smile that I

so intensely longed to see.
We studied a model of appendicular muscles

and how the extensor digitorum raises the

metacarpals to caress your cheek, how I so

hopelessly wished you would hold me in your

arms—and maybe then you might want to

study anatomy as well.
